6 month pics

Hampton turned 6 months on Dec. 2 so that also called for 6 month professional pictures.  We did them out at historic Landmark Park a couple of weeks ago.  I thought they turned out really well.  I LOVE getting pictures of him, but it is THE hardest thing choosing which ones I like best, which I want to frame, which I want to put in his baby book, etc. when I get the CD back.  I will admit, I procrastinate it just a bit even though I am the biggest NON procrastinator there is.  Hence, this post being on Dec. 26.  However, this month, besides procrastinating we have been EXTRA busy with a whole lot of EXTRA stuff so that didn't help with the picture picking process either.  But, I did make a little time tonight to look through them and pick some of my favorites out (even though they usually ALL tend to be my fav)!!  Baby boy is growing TOO fast.  Enjoy!!

Time is flying.  And fast. :(

'Tis the Season

for birthdays and Santa Claus!!  Friday, Dec. 9 was Daniel's 29th (and holding) birthday!  The day before they had a big on the air drive at Lifesouth with WTVY where Daniel had already informed me that Santa would be there.  At this point, Hampton had yet to meet Santa for the first time so while out running errands I figured we would sneak in a little visit with Daddy AND Santa all in one stop.  I tried to soak up Hampton liking Santa this year because I've been warned it might not be so easy the next 2 years or even 3.  Of course he went right to him, although his facial expressions gave away the fact he knew he was a little "different" than your everyday human.  But, no tears or screams, so we're all good...this year anyways!

"Man, that sure is a whole lotta hair I can pull!!"

Happy (early) Birthday Daddy!

The next day, Daniel was so kind to take off on his special day so we could spend the day all together.  We had fun plans for the day starting with a couple of errands, lunch, and then taking Hampton to see Santa at the mall for his picture with him.  We all had a fun day celebrating Daddy's birthday and just hanging out with each other.  I am one blessed soul.

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Waiting in line to see Santa

An hour and a half later...

we finally meet Santa (again) and tell him some of the things
Hampton has requested for Christmas

Merry Christmas from the Hewetts!

I hope each and every one of you have a joy filled Christmas this year and don't forget the real meaning of the most wonderful time of year...Jesus is the reason for the season!  Happy (early) Birthday, Jesus!!

1/2 a year. 180. days. 6 months.

My child turned 6 months old on Dec. 2.  What is that you say?  I'm sorry.  You couldn't be talking about MY child.  Whaaaaat??  Nonsense.  Craziness.  Call it what you want, but 6 months ago our lives drastically changed with more of a blessing than we could ask for.  I cannot believe Hampton is already 6 months old and he fills our lives with laughter and new love every single day.  It just so happened that my mom, 2 sisters, and I were heading off to Birmingham for our annual Christmas shopping getaway on the day he turned 6 months.  It was a bit bittersweet.  I was already partial about leaving him for the whole weekend for the first time even though Daddy was excited for a whole lotta Hampton and daddy time.  Daniel's parents came down and kept him on Friday while Daniel worked and then Daniel kept him the rest of the weekend.  They all survived and had fun while doing it!! :)  To say I was excited to see my itty bitty on Sunday would be an understatement.  Sadly enough, I couldn't help but think of all the men and women who sacrifice years, not just a weekend, without their babies to be overseas and fight for our continued freedom.  I truly salute them and my heart goes out to them.  We still had our monthly birthday pics just a couple days late.  We took a ton this time with our new little fancy smancy camera, but here are just a few of my favs...

This one is a very good depiction of him.  HAPPY baby!! :)

If it's close enough to get his hands on...
it's going straight in the mouth.

Inevitably, after the 79th picture, he was over it.
D-O-N-E.

No more smiles.

No more cooperating.

Over it.

In fact, chewing on my foot sounds MUCH more appealing.

We had our 6 month appointment yesterday and he is right on target with everything.  Yay Hampton!!

Sitting oh so patiently waiting on Dr. Williams

Ah ha!  Picture is over, I can now go for what I was wanting to jump out of my skin for.
"What IS this thing anyways?!?"

"Look mommy what I got!
I have NO clue what it is, but I do know
you're letting me touch it long enough for some big looking thing to flash in my face AGAIN!!"

He literally cracks me up.  Every. single. day.  He is so curious and observant, loves to stare (I'm not sure where he learned his mad people watching skills from?!), and has the sweetest little personality already!
His 6 month stats were:

weight:  16 lbs. 1/2 oz.
height:  26 1/2 inches long
head:  46 cm

He is a healthy growing boy.  Thank you, Jesus.  As of now...

he has not one, but two teethies.  They are the most darndest cutest little teeth I ever did see.

showing off his pearly whites :)

he is rolling from his tummy to his back and vice versa.
he doesn't suck his thumb (thank goodness), but does have to have his paci at night before he falls asleep.
still loves bath time and now that he sits up in a big boy tub, he loves playing with his ducky.

he loves for you to hold him while he stands.

he still loves to eat everything in sight and speaking of eating, we are now to a fruit in the a.m., a veggie at lunch, and a meat and veggie at dinner.  His favorites are apples, pears, squash, and chicken and rice so far.  He also has just started eating the Gerber puffs that dissolve in his mouth.  He loves them too.  He's only had strawberry banana at this point.  We also got the go ahead for 1/2 apple juice 1/2 water in a s-s-s-sippy cup.  :(  It was almost too unbearable to make that purchase at Wal-Mart last night.  And by the way, who knew there were 17 different sippy cups to choose from??  Whatever happened to the one size cup, one color, one size top with one size nipple, plastic sippy cup?!  My baby is growing up way too fast!!  Although, I can't wait to see how he likes it.

he still sleeps like a champ (10-12 hrs.) with us.  However, he does nap in his crib. :)  Here's proof.

We keep saying we're going to try his crib one NIGHT, but things just seem to keep coming up. Oh well, we have what, oh, 16 years or so for that, right?!  Ha!

he loves to sit up.  Whether it's watching t.v. or playing.  I guess that's what happens when they figure out there's a vertical way of seeing the world around them.

Like every other post, I could keep going on and on about all of his accomplishments, what he's working on, and so forth, but it's way past my bed time.  To say the least, he is a happy little creature who we are so very proud of and so blessed to call ours!  We love you to the moon and back sweet Hampton!

Hampton's first Thanksgiving

We have more than we could ever ask for.  And even more to be thankful for.  If I were to even BEGIN to name all those things, this post would never end.  God continues to pour out His blessings on us each and every day and I am forever grateful.  We shared this Thanksgiving with Daniel's side of the family in Marietta, GA since we are staying here for Christmas.  You know the whole, swapping each year, back and forth Holiday thing that has to happen when you get engaged and then married to someone who has family not in the same town as yours.  Kind of stinks, but you do what you gotta do I guess.  Anyways, we left on Wednesday around lunch and came back on Saturday.  It was a nice little relaxing getaway I must say.  I always thoroughly enjoy spending time with his family.  His mom has 3 other sisters that are hysterical when they all get together.  This time they were all especially excited to see, no not "us", but of course, Hampton. ;)  It's ok.  I'm getting used to it at this point.  Thursday was a relaxing, gorge yourself out kind of day, complete with smoked turkey and any side you can think of.  That morning before everyone began to arrive, Daniel and I received an "early" Christmas present I had wanted from his parents.  A Canon Rebel T3 SLR. I had known we were getting it, just didn't know I would be so lucky to already open it.  It's awesome!!  I was SO incredibly pumped.  I absolutely love it and we're both a little obsessed with taking pictures (as if I wasn't already with my little Canon Digital).  Friday, Daniel and I got treated to lunch by ourselves and to do some shopping while his grandmother and mom gladly took care of Hampton for the day.  Eating lunch just the 2 of us AND shopping.  And not feeling like I have to be in a hurry.  Ahhhh.  Pure bliss.  By the afternoon, I was already missing my little man.  We spent the rest of the day/night being lazy and spending some more time with his family.  The next morning we got up and headed back home.  The Iron Bowl was coming on at 2:30 and we were hoping to get back just in time...it had just started when we walked in the door.  Bama dominated 42-14.  Woo Hoo.  Roll Tide!!  I can't believe another season of Bama football is over.  It flies by once it gets here.  It sure was a great way to sum up the last few days of sweet family time.  I will leave you with just a "few" of the pictures we took so far with our new camera.  I hope each of you had a blessed Thanksgiving as well!!

Playing with his great Aunt Teresa
With his 3rd cousin, Mason.  The only 2 great grandchildren as of now. :)

Great grandchildren with Mamaw :)

Einstein thinking...

 A little outside fun

God Love it!  I could just eat those little cheeks up!

LOVE, LOVE this one.  Most of all because I LOVE his BIG brown eyes :)

Sweet profile

We got a little preview of the weeks to come when he got to open a present from his
great aunt Teresa and uncle Jim...he loved it, which I figured.

"What is this big 'ole thing?!"

How sweet...his own little nativity scene for his room!! :)
It actually lights up and plays sounds and he can play with it.
Thank you Aunt Teresa and Uncle Jim!

There's just nothing quite like a precious, wet, naked baby!

Going to celebrate our Iron Bowl victory with dinner at Hunt's!
Roll Tide!!
